About Michael...

MICHAEL STILLER, LEED AP, IESNA, Affiliate IALD, is a lighting practitioner whose career over the past 25 years has spanned the worlds of theatrical and architectural lighting, experiential environments, theatrical systems design, television, and motion pictures. His architectural designs are represented in the exhibit, corporate, retail, and municipal markets. His theatrical designs have been produced in dozens of international venues ranging from raw industrial spaces to classical opera houses, state theaters, and arenas. And his work for camera has appeared in major motion pictures and network television. In 1998, Michael founded Michael Stiller Design, where he directed a flexible workforce of designers, project managers, and programmers until merging his practice with upLIGHT. In addition to his work as a designer, Michael is an authority in the field of energy efficient lighting and LED lighting. His leadership abilities have naturally led him to take on a professional sidebar as a teacher. Michael has led lighting workshops abroad, been a guest lecturer at the Pratt Institute, and is currently a faculty member at FIT in the School for Graduate Studies' master's degree program in Exhibit Design. Michael has been a guest lecturer for SUNY Ulster’s Professional Education Program, and gives frequent presentations on lighting and sustainability as part of his work with the IESNA, AEE, and the USGBC NY Upstate Chapter. He is the author of a recently published textbook, Quality Lighting for High Performance Buildings, published by the Fairmont Press in conjunction with the Association of Energy Engineers.

Gregory Bloxham

About Gregory...

GREGORY BLOXHAM (United Scenic Artists, IATSE ACT) is a visual storyteller who balances a strong design aesthetic with technical acumen to turn vision into reality. He began his career in the theatre and has worked as an associate designer and programmer on many Broadway and regional theatre productions. He has brought that foundation to numerous exhibit-based corporate projects and public space improvements. As a design manager for Light Projects, Greg oversaw the design and implementation of several urban nighttime improvement projects. Greg has worked on the National Harbor project in Washington DC since 2008, when it was under construction, and continues solving design challenges for them to this day. Previously he was associate designer on The Oprah Winfrey show—with a specialty in media driven LED lighting. Greg also served as the associate lighting designer and lighting and media programmer on the set of Bravo’s The Fashion Show. With many productions to his credit, Greg's combination of design skills and programming knowledge makes him an invaluable part of any team. Since 2011, Greg served as a lecturer and teacher on advanced control systems for the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas, and in 2012 he was a panelist in a seminar on lighting education as part of that year’s PLASA Focus event in Stamford CT. Greg holds a BFA in theatrical lighting design from The Theatre School at DePaul University.

Zakaria Al-Alami

About Zakaria...

Zakaria Al-Alami began working with upLIGHT in 2003. Since joining the team, Zak has been an integral part of many of our projects from the drafting of preliminary layouts to the final focus and programming of completed installations, and has recently begun providing onsite lighting direction for our live entertainment events. In 2004 Zak joined Jazz at Lincoln Center, then still under development, where he translated the original architectural drawings into working theatrical plots. As Lighting Director, Zak lights all JALC productions, many guest rental events and regularly consults on capital improvements to their theatrical and architectural lighting systems. Zak has also has enjoyed extensive work with Chenault Spence, Arc3design, Brian Scott, and David Lander, among others, and, from 2000-2003, toured internationally as Associate Lighting Director with The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Amanda Clegg Lyon

About Amanda...

Amanda is a New York and Chicago based lighting designer who has helped us kick out drawings and specify lighting for a variety of commercial, residential and live-event projects. She keeps busy honing her design skills in any way she can, and her recent theatrical designs include: Melancholy Play with the Atlantic Theater Company, Maya Mexico with Dzul Dance, Welcome Yule with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, as well as a host of performance works for the Morningside Opera, Marc Arthur Dance, the Chicago Repertory Ballet, FringeNYC/Fringe Encores, Little Opera Theater of NY, and Target Margin Theater. Amanda is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and holds a Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University.

Paige C. Jaffe-Pinckney

About Paige...

Since joining upLIGHT in 2015, Paige has worked on a wide variety of projects. She provided drafting and research for a boutique office space for one of the oldest experience design firms in the world, and is currently working as Junior Lighting Designer for National Harbor, a luxury residential and resort destination on the Eastern Seaboard. In between she’s been an integral part of the design teams for a variety of hospitality and residential projects. Paige has a BA from the State University of Albany, is a graduate of the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas, and recently completed a certificate course in lighting calculations. Paige is a dedicated LARPER and in her free time works as a Sr. Producer at Nerdy City Productions.
